Abell Ranch
Mainstem of the South Platte River
The Abell River Ranch project area occurred on a 2.7-mile stretch of the South Platte River below 11 Mile Reservoir. We identified several threatened or highly eroded banks, areas of an overwide channel and one failing diversion structure. Based on these findings, we have developed a design that would reduce overall channel width, decrease eroding banks by introducting woody vegetation, increase in-stream habitat, create a defined low flow channel, and repair a failing diversion structure.
